The objective of this module is to introduce the student to a career in machining.  This is done by a hands on activity turning a small practice piece and a small ball peen hammer. 

The main piece of this module is the Sherline mini Lathe.  After 4 years in my classroom it has proved itself to be a tough machine that can stand up to the punishment middle school students can dish out.

I can offer you two things with the Sherline tools, lower prices and help getting started.  If your new to this field, I can help.  If your a veteran machinist but may have a question about the quality of Sherline tools I assure you that other machinist tell me all the time how surprised they are of the high quality of Sherline products.

The model 4000 and 4400 lathe are both used in my classroom.  I also have two mills, 1 is CNC and the other is manual.  My students are very young and do not go that far into the operation of CNC.  (at least at this time, maybe later)
