VIDEO DRIVEN MODULES FOR TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

We all have had students who sensed that if they kept saying "I don't know what to do" even though you would remind them to read the book, they would continue hoping you would just tell them what to do. Before long their module time was up and the rotation was over and they had an awful grade. Not only that but they hadn't learned anything.  With a video based module the students are led along visually and orally, plus with the ability to rewind there is no excuse for not getting the daily work done.

Our First Module
Introduction to Computer Assembly.
This module is suitable for 6th,7th or 8th grade. It's been used with 7th grade for 5 years in my classroom.

This module covers the basics of computer service and repair; it is the first in many steps toward A+ certification and then a career in the computer industry.  Students learn tool identification, safety for computers and people, types of computers, computer part identification, disassemble and reassembly, computer part functions and specification, careers, and much, much more.

  Precision Machine               Module Update
I believe that the best modules are those that are good hands on activities that have multiple layers of learning..  The Precision Machine Module featuring the Sherline 4000 Lathe is just such a module.

The Sherline Lathe is tough enough to withstand the classroom environment and the curriculum is video based so the students have something to look and listen to in order to make their module sucessful.

I've had great success with this module in my classroom and hope that you will give it a try!

         Substitute Packets
A sub packet is a binder that contains, a DVD, worksheet, Quiz and a script for the sub to read from.  Just copy the worksheet and quiz and leave it laying on your desk or handy on a shelf and its ready for that day when you just can't be there.
Goals,Thoughts and Opinions
* The number one goal of this company is "to build the very best modules that work for the teacher and the student.
* This website is simple and straight to the point, and hopefully easy to use.
*These modules are developed and tested in the classroom.
*Tested over time, some students are gifted, some average and some on IEP's and all from public school.
*Support for the module you buy, replace one little part or maybe something doesn't work right, we want to give you "service after the sale"
*We're planning a message board for all Tech Ed issues on Classroomtested.org
*Out of the mouths of babes; One student says to another
"the book makes it harder than it really is"  talking about trying to complete an assignment by only looking at the pictures.
How Much, How Far?
My new focus is this, now that I have 3 modules completed my focus has turned to making those modules "stronger".  The challenge is this, how much can be taught in the allotted amount of time.  We are giving them 16 experiences, (clusters) so how much of each subject can we cram in?
Send me an email and you'll be added to the list.  About once a month I'll be sending out an update on what we're working on.....KB
